NOVICE COCKER FIELD TRIAL HELD AT CASTLE BOLTON, NORTH YORKSHIRE on 1st August 2013

Today Midge took part in her first ever field trial, The Cocker Spaniel Club Novice Cocker stake held at Castle Bolton.  The judges were Andy Robinson and Darren Skidmore.  Although this was the hottest day of the year in some parts of the country the temperature was thankfully reasonably cool in North Yorkshire.

Midge was drawn number 6 in the running order and there was some very familiar names and faces in attendance.  There was an abundant supply of rabbits and every dog was given the opportunity for multiple flushes and retrieves.

It was obvious that Midge found her first experience of field trialling a little overwhelming and at times didn't go with her usual drive and determination, however she did everything that was asked of her faultlessly.  The standard of the novice dogs was very high with nine of the sixteen entries achieving awards, including Midge who received a COM.  Such was the quantity of game the trial was complete by just after noon.
